There was a time when Antoine de Saint-Exupéry delivered mail from France to Africa over the Atlantic, aboard his old plane.
He was yet to write “The Little Prince” but the pioneer of aviation and author in the making was already making stopovers in Dakhla. The First World War had just ended.
For 35 years, the Toulouse – Saint Louis air rally has been following the route of France’s famous “Aéropostale” postal service, at the time called “the Path of Giants”.
This historic rally and the world’s longest (10,000 km) has a stopover at Dakhla every year.
The next one is in September 2017 for the rally’s 35th edition, scheduled between 23rd September and 6th October.
